The 9th PTSF Christmas Eve is behind us! This year's conference was held under the slogan „"Pharmacy in a Changing World: A Unique Approach to the Patient"”. The event demonstrated the dynamically evolving role of the pharmacist and the real challenges facing modern pharmaceutical care. In pharmacies, we increasingly encounter patients with very diverse needs – neuroatypical individuals struggling with ADHD, autism, or other neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as patients with PTSD or addictions.

According to the World Health Organization, nearly 62 million people worldwide live on the autism spectrum, and ADHD affects approximately 3–51 TP3T adults², clearly demonstrating that these are not isolated cases but patients pharmacists encounter every day. Ensuring access to pharmaceutical services for older adults and those with physical and intellectual disabilities remains an equally significant challenge, so the conference aimed not only to expand knowledge but, above all, to provide practical training in how to communicate with patients, how to overcome barriers to accessing healthcare, and how to ensure that pharmacists provide real support and advice.

On December 5-6, the 9th Christmas Eve of the Polish Pharmacy Students' Society took place in Łódź, organized by the PTSF Łódź Branch., which combined student integration with educational activities. Friday evening was spent in a community setting, creating a space for conversation and building relationships between pharmacy students from different parts of Poland.

The Saturday part of the event was substantive and began with a lecture panel, which opened with the inaugural lecture „"Pharmacist in the health care system – from theory to practice of interprofessional cooperation"” delivered by Łukasz Konka, M.Pharm., President of the District Pharmaceutical Chamber in Łódź. It was emphasized that the modern pharmacist plays a much broader role than simply dispensing medications, increasingly becoming a partner for doctors, nurses, and other specialists, truly influencing the safety and effectiveness of therapy and the quality of healthcare.

The second lecture of the panel was the lecture by the Main Partner entitled „"The art of speaking so that the patient wants to listen - adherence in the practice of pharmacists"”, led by Magdalena Krawczyk-Wiśniewska, who highlighted the key role of communication in the daily work of a pharmacist and how building relationships, trust and patient motivation translates into actual compliance with therapeutic recommendations and treatment effectiveness.

Participants also had the opportunity to take part in discussion panel devoted to patient communication, where experts sought answers to questions about how to talk to patients with different needs and experiences so that everyone feels seen and understood. Participating in the discussion were: Magdalena Jasińska-Stroschein, Ph.D., Ph.D., Ph.D., Łukasz Konka, M.Pharm., Olga Sierpniowska, M.Pharm., Marek Kamiński, M.Sc., Paweł Rasmus, M.D., Ph.D., and Karina Jastrzębowska, M.Pharm.. The panel became a space for sharing experiences, asking questions, and learning practical strategies for inclusive, empathetic communication in the pharmacy.

Following the lecture, participants participated in a panel workshop, which allowed for practical application of the acquired knowledge to pharmacy situations. The diversity of topics and perspectives demonstrated the multifaceted nature of the contemporary role of the pharmacist. The workshops covered topics such as communicating with patients in mental health crisis, working with neuroatypical individuals, intergenerational dialogue, supporting patients addicted to medications, communicating with hearing-impaired patients, collaborating with physicians during medication reviews, the role of pharmacists in vaccination programs, assessing the credibility of medical information, emotional intelligence, assertiveness in the pharmacy, mindfulness, legal certainty of medical professions, teamwork, time management, TDM-based vancomycin therapy, and a conscious approach to supplementation.

We would like to thank all the speakers and workshop leaders for their extensive knowledge, commitment and inspiration., and in particular: Magdalena Krawczyk-Wiśniewska, Konrad Tuszyński, Piotr Skiba, Weronika Skiba, Paulina Danielak, Paulina Glajzner, Agnieszka Bernat, Dominik Żyro, Roman Filipiak, Anna Sikora, Marta Krynicka, Łukasz Konka, Julita Pabiniak-Gorąca, Małgorzata Cieślak, Kacper Waliszewski, Mateusz Głowacki, Jakub Kolanowski, Kinga Krupa, Natalia Oleś, Lidia Woderska, Monika Bartwicka, Michał Dudarewicz, Paulina Sobierańska, Michał Seweryn Karbownik, Julian Zięba and Krzysztof Halczuk.
